House Fire #2 - Rochester, NY 7/23/12
July 23, 2012 - Less than 30 minutes after clearing the Child St. fire, many of the same companies responded to the area of Evangeline St. and Endicott St. for the report of a vacant house on fire. Truck 5 reported on location with smoke in the area. A working fire was declared after the source of the smoke was discovered a few houses down Evangeline St. Companies encountered heavy fire from the rear of the structure which was knocked down in 21 minutes according to RFD Battalion Chief Robert McEneaney. The cause of the fire is under investigation but is being labeled suspicious due to the house being vacant.
Temperatures were in the 90's for most of the day and the heat took an obvious toll on firefighters that worked both fires. In spite of this, no injuries were reported.
