3 Alarm Fire - Rochester, NY 2/24/12

February 24, 2012 - Shortly after 1am, Rochester firefighters were dispatched to a reported building fire at T&L Automatics on Emerson St. First arriving companies reported heavy smoke from a 4-story commercial building and requested a 2nd alarm almost immediately. Due to the size and age of the building, coupled with no fire protection system, the fire grew to 3 alarms but was knocked down within 30 minutes. A worker was performing a cutting operation when sparks ignited the coolant being used, forcing the six employees to evacuate the structure. There were no reported injuries and the fire was contained to the first floor.
