Substation Fire - Henrietta, NY 1/14/12
January 14, 2012 - Henrietta, NY Firefighters responded for multiple calls reporting a possible house fire. While responding, more calls were received reporting a fire near the Rochester Gas & Electric substation off of Lehigh Station Rd. The first arriving officer on scene reported a fire in the substation and ordered crews to stand by and await the arrival of RG&E personnel. Eventually a crash truck was requested from the Greater Rochester International Airport Fire Dept. Rescue 4 responded to the scene with two firefighters aboard and helped extinguish the fire using AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam). Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters continued cooling the transformer to prevent a reignition.
