Vehicle Fire - Gates, NY 4/11/12

April 11, 2012 - Firefighters from the Gates, NY Fire District were dispatched to a vehicle into the side of a building and on fire today. A crew from Gates Ambulance was first on scene confirming a vehicle on fire against the building, and the first arriving officer from Gates FD declared a working fire and requested mutual assistance from the Ridge Road Fire District. Firefighters quickly knocked the fire down before it could get into the void space under the roof. The building did suffer some damage, however if not for the quick work of fire crews it could have been much worse.

The driver reportedly noticed a problem with the vehicle and pulled over to stop but the vehicle ended up against the building as it caught fire. The woman did suffer some minor injuries and the Monroe County Fire Bureau is investigating the cause of the fire.
