The Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) conducted it's tri-annual disaster drill on September 15, 2012. The drill simulated a large airplane crash with multiple victims on the airport and was designed to test the response capabilities of the public safety agencies in and around Rochester, as well as the local hospitals. The drill is required by the FAA in order to prepare airports and their response agencies for an actual aircraft accident.
Firefighters from several area Fire Departments responded to the scene of a working fire on Hill Park Ct. in Chili, NY. At least four people were transported to area hospitals and the building suffered substantial damage. The fire is believed to have started on a balcony and is under investigation at this time.
Gates firefighters responded for the report of a fire in the bakery at the Wegmans warehouse on Brooks Ave. Companies reported light smoke from the building on arrival and discovered a fire in the ductwork. The fire was quickly extinguished and the building was ventilated.
